How does VoIP work?
A VoIP phone system is similar to a computer network, and uses your existing network hardware. A VoIP phone simply plugs into your Ethernet port. When you make a telephone call using VoIP, your voice is converted into data packets. The packets travel like any other type of data, such as e-mail, over a broadband Internet connection to its destination. Once it has reached its destination the data is then converted back to your voice.
VoIP Benefits
Cost Savings - Regular domestic VoIP calls over the Internet do not incur a surcharge beyond what the user is paying for Internet access. The same is true for international calls to most countries. VoIP can potentially save up to 40% on local calls and 90% on international calls.
Ease of Use - SIP compliant phones are easy to use and install
Efficiency - VoIP systems include a multitude of new calling Features which easily integrate into existing computers and technology. Examples include the ability to store incoming calls to voice mail, send a voice mail as an e-mail attachment, 3-way calling, caller ID and call waiting
VoIP Requirements
Bandwidth - High speed Internet (Broadband) connection for VoIP to ensure best quality calls
Powerful Router - To handle the quantity of phones needed for your organization
Equipment - VoIP capable phones, soft phones and headsets; NOT old analogs with adapters
Battery Backup - VoIP does not work when power fails. We recommend installing a battery backup and Power over Ethernet switch.
AtomOS VoIP Features
Voice over Internet Protocol, otherwise known as VoIP, is hardware and software technology that allows you to make telephone calls using a high speed Internet connection rather than the use of a regular telephone line.
The VoIP Server of the AtomOS platform can be deployed in modern and complete telephony systems for both internal and external communications within companies or institutions of any size or nature.
